Mommy and Me Time

With Paul away at a guys golfing trip last week, Gibson and I were able to spend some quality time together. We played alot during the week and had a busy weekend starting with Friday night. We hung out with Lydia and Ava for Ava's 2nd birthday. Lydia even had pumpkins for us to decorate and take home.

Saturday morning we got up early and participated in Race for a Cure. This is a cause that is special to my heart now, with a recent diagnosis in the family. Gibson was such a trooper despite his early rise and the chilly weather. He doesn't really have anything pink to wear so I bought him a pink ribbon pin to wear. If you look hard you'll see it pinned to his tobaggon.

After the race, we went to Chick-Fil-A for a late breakfast (my first time to take him to a restaurant by myself), and we had so much fun. Gibson made friends with everyone sitting around us, he soaks up the attention.

Of course we watched the Razorbacks too.

On Sunday, we got up early (at least early for us) but he was tired by 8:30 so we crawled back in bed and slept until almost 10. It felt so good to get a nice nap in that morning. We went to the zoo after lunch and spent close to 3 hours just strolling around the zoo and taking everything in. The monkeys were really active, the elephants were soaking up the sun, and alot of the small carnivores were out and about too. I think we even got to see the newest chimp that was born in late August. The chimps were being so playful and entertaining.

Here's my little chimp hamming it up for the camera!

After a nap, we headed out west to Bennett's flag football game, we even got to see him score a touchdown. It was awesome! It's so fun to watch 6-year-olds play football.

This is Gibson hanging out with his cousin Ellis (Bennett's sister).

And later that night we got to pick Paul up from the airport. We were both so glad that he was home. It's tough being a single parent, but it was nice to have some time with Gibson all to myself!
